first_imgAfter performing incredible tributes to Radiohead and The Beatles at the Fox Theatre in Boulder and at Tonic Room in Chicago, respectively, Tom Hamilton’s American Babies will bring their “Masquerade Ball of Light & Dark” tour to American Beauty in New York City this weekend. The Saturday, November 5th show will contain another special tribute set, as the band are preparing to pay their respects to the late David Bowie. In anticipation of this one-of-a-kind tribute, American Babies have released a video from their rehearsals for the show. The video shows them performing “Lazarus” from Bowie’s final album Blackstar, which was released days before his death. ACLU, for first time, elects Black person as its president

first_imgNEW YORK (AP) — Deborah Archer, a law professor at New York University with expertise in civil rights and racial justice, has become the first Black person in the 101-year history of the American Civil Liberties Union to be elected its president. The ACLU announced Monday that Archer was elected in a virtual meeting of the organization’s 69-member board of directors. She succeeds Susan Herman, a professor at Brooklyn Law School who had served as president since 2008. The fight against racial injustice is expected to be a top priority for the ACLU now that Donald Trump’s presidency is over. While Trump was in office, the ACLU filed more than 400 lawsuits and other legal actions against his administration.last_img
