Premier Darrell Dexter, today Jan. 1, expressed sorrow over the death of Sergeant Kirk Taylor of Yarmouth. Mr. Taylor was a member of 84 Independent Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, killed in action in Kandahar province on Wednesday, Dec. 30. “I want to offer my sincere condolences to Mr. Taylor’s family and friends during this difficult time,” said Premier Dexter. “My thoughts and prayers are with the family as they cope with this tragic loss.” Mr. Taylor was serving with the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team. Premier Dexter said Mr. Taylor, like all members of the Canadian Armed Forces, will be remembered as a hero who fought for Canadian values like peace, freedom and democracy.
